Wyatt Andrew Childress

Wyatt Andrew Childress, 24, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Smithville, MO, died June 25, 2020 at his home. Wyatt was born on January 15, 1996 and graduated from Wellington-Napoleon High School in 2014. Wyatt worked at Grand Street Cafe where he leaves many friends and regular customers who loved his great sense of adventure and fun. He also played a mean electric bass at the School of Rock for many years. Wyatt loved his family, hanging out with his friends and taking part in any good poker game. People were drawn to Wyatt's contagious smile, magnetic personality and his amazing sense of humor. He was always prepared for absolutely any adventure and loved having new experiences! Wyatt had such a giving heart and will be missed by so many who loved him.

Wyatt is survived by his mom, Debbie Childress of Smithville MO; his dad, Mark (Wendy) of Odessa, MO; sister Heather Childress of Kansas City, MO; step siblings Jarid (Heather) King of Marshall, MO; Alexica (Jake) Valiquette of Grain Valley, MO; Caitlyn Clements of Slater, MO; nieces Karslynn, Kylie and Jaiden, maternal grandparents Larry and Dorothy Joiner of Smithville MO; paternal grandparents Phil (Jama) Childress of Parker City, IN; Lynda Wiseman of Grain Valley, MO; Richard Wiseman of Slater, MO; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 am, with a time of fellowship and sharing stories directly following. Services to be held at Avondale United Methodist Church, 3101 NE Winn Road, Kansas City MO 64117. We will be following the mandates of Kansas City MO, requiring masks and social distancing. Due to the current environment, plans are subject to change. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valor Ranch, transitional housing for homeless veterans, PO Box 114, Smithville MO 64089, or at www.valorranch.org. This charity was something Wyatt had donated to in the past and he enjoyed wearing his Valor Ranch hat, in order to be able to talk to people about the ranch when asked.
