Obituary For Verdie Lou Maggio

Verdie Lou Maggio was born on July 18, 1941 in Crowley, Louisiana. She died peacefully in Kansas City, Missouri on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the age of 79.

Verdie is survived by her brother Curtis Quebodeaux (Sally), and children Diana Layson, Joseph Maggio (Mari Butler), and Michael Maggio (Krista). She was very much loved by her many great and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Annabell Quebodeaux, sister Belva Smith, and brothers Lawrence Quebodeaux and Darrell Quebodeaux.

Verdie loved to cook. She especially loved to make basta (pasta) for her kids and her grandkids. Verdie was a hardworking server. Even though she was a homebody, she loved to go to the casino.

A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, June 17th at 11:00 AM at Mount Washington Cemetery at the Columbaria. Please enter the cemetery from the Independence Ave. (aka 24 Highway) side as the small bridge was recently washed out and the Truman Road entrance is blocked. Dress is weather appropriate casual. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow the service. Contact Diana if you need additional directions. Please come prepared to eat, swim and share your memories of Verdie Lou. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Verdie’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. Just bring your best memories.

Condolences

  • So sorry for your loss Diana. Verdie would make an egg dish (can't remember what it was called). I absolutely loved when I was privileged enough to be there.

  • I love you Aunt Verdie. May you rest in peace. Your Godson Keith in Texas.
