Robert(Rob) Anthony Furman

Robert (Rob) Anthony Furman, Sr., age 65, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep, having been surrounded in love by his siblings, children, and grandchildren the day prior.

Rob was born on April 20, 1960, in Castle Hayne, North Carolina, to the late Robert Brooke Furman and Cecelia Marie Furman (Schlegel). He was a devoted brother to Theresa, Martin, Kevin, and Mary; a loving father to Robbie (Alicia) and Daniel (Heather); and a proud grandfather to Briella and Arleigh, who brought him endless joy.

A gifted artist, Rob earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. He dedicated his career to illustration, photography, and videography. He worked as a greeting card illustrator for Hallmark Cards and American Greetings, later continuing his creative journey as a self-employed freelancer. His artistry touched countless lives and reflected his unique perspective keen eye for detailed realism.

Beyond his professional work, Rob had many passions. He found joy in photography and videography, playing guitar, painting, airbrushing, and creating art in all forms. His adventurous spirit drew him to mountainboarding, kite flying, and kitebuggying. Above all, Rob cherished time with his family, preserved voluminously within video and photo catalogues.

Rob will be remembered for his unique talent, creativity, his adventurous heart, his deep love for family, and the way he inspired others to see the world through an artist’s eyes. His presence will be deeply missed but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, or gifts, the family kindly requests that charitable contributions be made to the March of Dimes, in honor of Rob’s ever-inspiring granddaughter, Briella.

The family wishes to honor Rob’s memory privately and will not be holding formal services or celebrations of life.
