Perry Donald Walker (Don, DW, Donnie), of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully, August 21, 2023, at home surrounded by family and friends.
Donnie was born August 4th, 1952 in Kansas City, MO to Mattie and Charles Walker of Kansas City, the youngest of 8 children. He graduated from Westport High School in 1971 before enlisting in the Marine Corps. He served his Country in Thailand from 1972 to 1974, when he was honorably discharged.
After his service, he attended trade school in Denver, CO, before returning and making his home in Kansas City, MO. In 1979, Donnie met his future wife and best friend, Vickie Jones. Vickie and Donnie were married in Kansas City, MO on May 21, 1983 and welcomed their son, Luke Winchester Walker on March 21, 1985. Donnie and Vickie spent 44 wonderful years together and it was a hell of a ride.
Donnie was a truck driver all his life and was a proud retired member of the Teamsters local 41 and local 541. During his working career he worked at many freight and concrete companies before retiring in 2017.
Donnie was a devoted husband and father, that loved time spent with all of his many friends and family. He loved riding motorcycles, camping and attending Sturgis rallies. He loved sports, especially the Chiefs. Donnie remained close with his school friends throughout his life. He never knew a stranger and would offer to help anyone. Donnie was a man of honor and integrity, and his word was his bond. He had a wonderful and unique sense of humor and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Donnie was preceded in death by his mother, father, and siblings Murle Walker and Charlene Bush. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Jones Walker; son, Luke Walker (Danielle); siblings: Bob Walker (Carol), Bill Walker (Becky), Evelyn Brantner (Stanley), Danny Walker (Linda) and Thelma Sharp (John); sister-in-laws Mona Jones (Jimmy), Lisa Yazel, nieces and nephews Cole White (Patti), Todd White (Jill), Sarah Shaw (Eric), and great-nieces and nephews Annellie, Bailey, Wyatt, and Ryder; and countless other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
We will be celebrating the life of Donnie Walker from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on September 2, 2023 at the VFW Post 5789, 329 SE Douglas, Lee's Summit, MO 64063. Military Honors will be at 2:00 pm. Please join us in celebrating Donnie's wonderful life. Food will be served.
