A Celebration of Life will be held on August 2, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Memorial Station in Belton, Missouri. (602 Maurer Parkway Belton, MO 64012)
Patrick was born on November 14, 1974, to Patrick J. and Cherryl Gruetze in Kansas City, Missouri, where he spent much of his early life. Throughout the years, he lived in various places including Illinois, Michigan, and South Dakota, before returning to Kansas City in the spring of 2024.
He graduated from high school in Michigan and went on to further his education by earning several Microsoft certifications. These achievements led him to the position of Utility Supervisor with the City of Kansas City’s Water Services Department, where he worked from 2014 to 2021.As a child, Patrick enjoyed playing T-ball, participating in Boy Scouts, and playing soccer at Hickman Mills High School. He loved riding his skateboard around town and had a talent for drawing caricatures of those around him. In 2017, through the encouragement of Rakefet Gruetze and their daughter, Miriam, Patrick discovered BMX racing. He quickly embraced the sport with passion, competing alongside his daughter and enjoying the opportunity to travel across the country for races.
Patrick had a deep love for his family dogs, Honey Badger and Ausley, and enjoyed training them in frisbee and other dogs sports. Additionally, he was a hands-on craftsman and Senior Project Manager who contributed to construction projects throughout Kansas City with Bryan Singleton and the team at Dynamic Construction Group. He was also a musician at heart—writing and publishing original music and occasionally traveling to Denver to play with his bandmates from UnSub.
Above all, Patrick was a caring and devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warmth, kindness, and radiant smile could light up any room.
Patrick is survived by his children: Cheyenne Ford-Gray, Chloe Worth, Parker Gruetze, Alexandria Gruetze, Miriam Gruetze, and bonus son Joey Ford-Gray. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Sophia, Xzavier, and Raelyn. He is also survived by his parents, Pat and Cherryl Gruetze; his sister, Nancy Yeager, and her husband Karlin; his brothers Brian and Jerry; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends and colleagues whose lives he touched deeply.
