Obituary For Nancy Lee Fallat
Beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandma, and aunt, Nancy Lee Fallat (Haws) passed away in her Peculiar, Missouri home at age 65 surrounded by many loved ones on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Nancy courageously battled a rare brain tumor called Glioblastoma for three months before it took her life, but this will never define her; she will always be remembered for her strong-willed, independent, and determined personality.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 47 years George Fallat; her children: Jennifer (Scott) Franklin, Michael Fallat, Christopher Fallat, and Sarah (Aaron) Long; three precious grandchildren: Abigail, Kyle, and Zachary; her siblings: Stephen Haws, David Haws, James F. Hawck III, and Kathryn Altermatt; her nephew Michael Haws Jr.; nieces: Candice Boban and Ashlie Hawck; and her two favorite support animals: her daughter’s yorkie Tater and her son’s bearded dragon She-Ra. Nancy is preceded in death by her mother Donna Haws, father Paul Haws, and brother Michael Haws.
Nancy was born on December 16, 1955 in Provo, Utah to mother Donna (Black) Haws and father Paul Haws, and was the third eldest of six children. During her childhood, Nancy relocated to Northern California where her mom and siblings eventually settled in Cottonwood, California. She spent her teen years attending Anderson High School. She was married to George P. Fallat Jr. of Schenectady, New York on October 20, 1973 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Cathedral in Reno, Nevada. They spent time in the Philippines, Arizona, and Denver while George was active in the military. They eventually settled in the Sacramento, California region. Despite having four children and a full-time job, Nancy’s determination had her pursuing an MBA in Accounting, which she received from Golden Gate University in 1997. She had a long and successful career with Henwood Energy Services before setting off to be an entrepreneur, opening her own retail store Proms to Beaches in Roseville, California in 2003. Nancy was very fond of her Nevada City, California mountain home she moved into in 2005. In 2015, Nancy and George relocated to Peculiar, Missouri to start a new, simple life in the midwest.
In her early years, Nancy loved to travel with family. She had the chance to explore Europe and hike gorgeous Mount Lassen in Northern California. She was excellent at gardening and loved playing board and card games with family and friends. Nancy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and other forms of crafting. Most recently, she opened an Etsy store to sell her beautiful handbags, coasters, and other unique creations. She was an avid Rock Band guitarist, lover of Bob Segar, and could never get enough of her Reese’s and Hershey’s Kisses. Nancy was looking forward to the birth of her daughter Sarah’s first child in the fall. Nancy’s greatest joy in life was not her career or accomplishments, but the family she created.
A funeral service will be held in remembrance of Nancy at the Northern California Veteran’s Cemetery in Igo, California on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 12:30pm. A reception to celebrate her life will follow at Sacred Heart Parish in Anderson, California at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to animal shelter Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, Missouri where Nancy volunteered, or to the Glioblastoma Foundation to aid in the search for new treatments for this rare and aggressive disease.
Nancy will never be forgotten as her personality, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family.
“Don’t forget your heritage. Take a look at the history of the family. Be yourself and don’t apologize for it. You are special for a reason. Get together as a family and stay in contact with each other. Bad times pass; in the moment you think they won’t, but they always do.” - Nancy Lee Fallat
