Johannis (Joe) Jarrett, Jr. of Peculiar Missouri went to his eternal home to be with Jesus on Friday May 10, 2024.  By his side were Barbara, Heather, Tyler (Alexandra), and Elise (Raymon.)  


Joe was born September, 1950 in Independence, MO. to Johannis Jarrett Sr. and Doris Jean (Hurd.) Joe graduated from Ruskin High School in 1968. After high school he served in the US Navy for four years. From there he began his career of thirty-four years at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Kansas City, KS. 


He was a Christian and attended Real Life Assembly of God church in Peculiar, MO. His hobbies included showing his 1971 Camaro Z28 at muscle car shows, bicycling, watching Nascar, Chiefs games, snow skiing, and playing pool.


In 1991 on the bicycle ride Tour Across Missouri, he met the love of his life Barbara.  Joe and Barbara were married in August of 1992. They shared thirty one-derful loving years together. Joe was 6’6” and Barbara is 5’1” with different bicycling abilities.  In 1993 they purchased a custom built tandem so they could enjoy bicycling together. They bicycled in thirty-five states covering at least 75,000 miles.  Prior to retirement they purchased a fifth wheel so they could live the winters in Rockport, TX.  


He leaves behind wife Barbara of thirty one years, daughter Heather, daughter Dee (Jason), son Aaron (Becky), son Adam, grandson Tyler (Alexandra), granddaughter Elise (Raymon), granddaughter Kara, grandson Brennan and granddaughter Breah, brothers Johnny (Jody), and James, sisters-in-law Kathy (Cecil), Stephanie, Debbie, nieces, nephews, an aunt, cousins, and his lap-cat named Jinxy. Joe was preceded in death by both parents, sister-in-law Cindy, brother-in-law Dwight, and a cat named 105. 


A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 25th at Real Life Assembly of God, 180 W. Broadway, Peculiar, MO. Visitations will be held at 10:00 a.m., the  service will begin at 11:00 a.m.


In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Real Life Assembly of God, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Kansas City Hospice House, or a charity of your choice. You may also donate blood in memory of Joe at the Community Blood Center.
