James Paul Castaneda Sr. passed away peacefully at The University of Kansas Hospital on September 12, 2025 at the age of 58, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. Born on June 6, 1967, to Harvey Joe Castaneda and Norma Jean Ricehouse (Fair), Jim grew up surrounded by a large and spirited family. He shared his childhood with four brothers—Joseph Castaneda, Rick Fair, Damon Fair, and Michael Fair—a sister, Alecia Henderson, and a cousin, Lisa Glass, who was more like a sibling than anything else.

“Jimmy” or “Jim” was known for his sharp sense of humor, quiet wisdom, or generous heart. Whether he was BBQing, cooking ribs in the outdoors, or just fishing he brought a sense of purpose and joy to everything he did.

He touched the lives of many with his kindness, strength, humility, and his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jimmy worked many years as a manager, in the rent to own business, He was dedicated to his customers. His work ethics were gratified for his strong commitment to achieving his goals throughout his life. Jimmy resided in Harrisonville, MO, loved the town enough to live and share his whole life in one community.

Jimmy is survived by his wife; Brandi H. Castaneda of Rich Hill; Son James Paul Castaneda Jr. of Harrisonville, MO; Brothers Joseph Castaneda (wife Tosha, great nieces Macinzie and Macinlee Castaneda) of Belton, MO, Damon Fair (wife Anita) of Raymore, MO; Sister Alecia Henderson of New Franklin, OH; Cousin Lisa Glass of New Braunfels, TX. He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father; Norma “Jeanie” Fair (Ricehouse) 05/25/2022 and Harvey Joe Castaneda 06/06/2007; Brothers Rick Anthony Fair 03/11/2002 and William “Michael” Fair 03/06/2023; Niece Bridgette Chantel Castaneda 01/23/2023; Nephew Christopher Michael Brillhart 03/17/2025.
