Dennis Glen Matney

February 19, 1955 — January 29, 2021

Dennis Matney lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on January 29, 2021 in his home in Harrisonville, MO surrounded by his family at the age of 65.

Dennis is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Sue, daughter Jennifer (Kansas City), son Scott and daughter-in-law Regan (Olathe), daughter Kathy and son-in-law GW Weld (Eudora), and grandchildren Caleb, Braeden, Chloe, and Brenna. He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Mary Matney, and brother Don Matney all of Overland Park, KS.

Dennis was born in Kansas City, KS on February 19, 1955 and grew up in Overland Park, KS. He was a 1973 graduate of Shawnee Mission West. After high school he moved to Illinois where he met his wife Sue and they married on May 18, 1977. His job in restaurant management moved them to Houston, TX, and later back to the Kansas City metro where they raised three children. In 1998 he left the restaurant business and followed his dream to owning his own auto restoration company where he restored his beloved MOPARs. In retirement he was an active bowler, bowling on multiple leagues each week. He loved his cars, fishing, bowling, and most of all his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 13, 2021 from 2-4:00 at Aaron's Family Fun Center in Belton in the private space, The Den. All are welcome, however, due to COVID, masks are mandatory and social distancing is expected. After visitation the family will bowl a game on the private lanes in honor of Dennis.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations in Dennis' honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) or St. Croix Hospice (1626 E. Elm St, Harrisonville, MO 64701).
