Dawn "Dawnie" Marie Herlund

July 6, 1965 — July 28, 2021

Dawn M. Herlund, 56, of Garden City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 28th 2021 at 10:48 A.M. at the Kansas City Hospice House due to a very aggressive case of Stage 4 Lung Cancer.

Born on July 6, 1965 in St. Paul, Minnesota to her parents Patricia and Kenneth Hall, Dawn is the youngest of her siblings: Steven, Barbara, David, Ronald, and John.

In August of 1986, Dawn married Jon Herlund and they had two children, Heather and Aaron. Dawn worked most of her life serving others, from waitressing to retail sales, and always tried to treat her customers as family and friends. In June of 2014, Dawn achieved her dream of getting a college degree, graduating with an AAS Degree in Business Management.

Dawn had a great love of all things Mickey Mouse, playing cribbage and loved to go fishing. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, playing computer games, and working with her hands, tinkering with different crafts.

Dawn is survived by her husband Jon, her daughter Heather and son-in-law Jayson, with their three sons Kyle, Kaedon, and Jackson, her son Aaron and daughter-in-law Mandi, with their three daughters Becca, Paige, and Maddi, as well as her siblings and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life Potluck picnic held in place of a funeral on August 29, 2021 from 1 PM to 5 PM. Please feel free to bring a dessert, salad, or whatever you would like. We felt that in doing the celebration this way, people would be able to contribute a little of themselves. Brats and hot dogs will be provided.

The address for Dawn's Celebration of Life is: 32501 E. 275th Street Garden City, MO 64747
