Darlene Jean (Long) Jackson of Belton, MO, died March 31, 2025 at Research Medical Center in Kansas
City, MO.
Darlene was born June 5, 1945 in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1963. For
40+ years, Darlene ran a daycare center out of her home where she cared for numerous children
throughout those years.
On June 16, 1963, Darlene married the love of her life, Harold Jackson. Their marriage was a true love
story for over 61 years; they were inseparable. Darlene was a devoted mother and Nana who cherished
spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved
her.
Darlene was a kind and very caring person, always putting others before herself. If she saw someone
having a rough day, she would go and give them a hug. She loved to crochet blankets for family and
friends. In her later years she enjoyed making jewelry or “beading” as she called it. She loved giving her
creations away to others just to brighten up their day. She loved playing Bingo and watching Chiefs
games.
Darlene is survived by her daughters, Sherie Flowers (Brian), Terry Jackson (Michelle), brother Darrell
Long (Cynda), grandchildren – Ryan Stock (Cynthia), Aaron Stock (Morgan) and Tabitha Draper (Benno),
great-grandchildren – Adilynn, Eli, Kiya, Izadora, Mia and Mayson, as well as nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Harold, father and mother Eugene and Theda Mae Long,
brother, Lynn Long and niece, China Jean Long.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 1 st at 10:30 a.m. at Peculiar United Methodist Church,
Peculiar, MO.
