Ronald John Harshany, 90, of Lenexa, Kansas, left his earthly home and entered his heavenly home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Ronald was born on July 21, 1936, in Madison, Illinois, to John and Helen Harshany. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. Attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, he worked as a Dental Specialist and earned both the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, Ronald built a long, successful career with AT&T, eventually retiring as a Data Tech Manager.

On October 6, 1962, Ronald married the love of his life, Nancy Szymcek, of Granite City, Illinois. The couple briefly moved to Minnesota before settling in Lenexa, Kansas in 1977, where they built their life and family. Ronald was a deeply loving and devoted husband to Nancy for 57 years, as well as a wonderful father, Grandpa, brother, and son. Outside of his dedication to his family and work, Ronald was an avid fisherman and found great joy in the companionship of his beloved pet dogs.

Ronald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Harshany; his parents, John and Helen Harshany; and his brother, Lawrence Harshany.

He is survived by his brothers, David Harshany of Parrish, Florida, and James Harshany of Glen Carbon, Illinois; his sons, Jeffrey Harshany of Lenexa, Kansas, and Patrick Harsh of Virginia; and his daughter, Laura Shea and her husband Scott of Mount Vernon, Missouri. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Tyler Moore of Alabama and Rylee Shea of Mount Vernon, Missouri.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
