Lunette Cozine

November 11, 1928 — August 12, 2021

Lunette (Williams) Cozine

It’s difficult to find the right words to pay tribute to a woman who raised and cared for so many. But just like how she tucked us in and told us bedtime stories, this is our opportunity to tell her story.

Lunette left this earthly realm in her sleep on August 12th, 2021. She was 92 years old. A proud and lifelong Texan, she eventually adopted Kansas as her new home. She was well loved by everyone and made friends wherever her journeys took her.

Few knew of her private struggles. Known as the constant encourager, she was known for her joy for life and formidable determination.

Lu entered the workforce at an early age. She played the role of mother, father, and friend at a time when it wasn’t common. Despite these struggles, she devoted her life as a single mother providing the foundation of love, support and discipline when necessary. At times, she worked two or more jobs to provide opportunities for her children. Lu spoke proudly of her six children: Sandy, David, Judy, Terry, Teresa and Danny.

Lu loved spending her retirement years playing dominoes and watching Fox News. As a master domino player, she welcomed all challengers. Though she ultimately always sent everyone home a winner, everyone knew who the best domino player in the room was.

She was also very interested in politics and determined to stay informed. Though always polite, she never backed down from a political discussion. Most importantly, she loved Jesus Christ and stayed in constant prayer for her family and for this country.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Although she was known by many names, she always said the name she loved the most was “Mom.”

Her family held private services, and her ashes will be placed alongside her youngest daughter’s ashes in a private ceremony.
