Joseph Brendan Herlihy, Jr., age 75, passed away on September 16, 2026, in Belton, Missouri.

Joseph (Joe) Herlihy was born on April 9, 1951 in Ayer, Massachusetts, to Joseph Herlihy, Sr. and Margaret Herlihy.

Joe graduated from Bedford High School in Bedford, Massachusetts in 1969 and enlisted in the Marine Corps later that year. As a Staff Sergeant he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Citadel as part of the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and was commissioned as an officer upon graduation. He also earned a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. He was released from active duty in 1981 and went on to serve in the Marine Corp Reserves until 1993. He started his career as a Business Consultant and went on to work for Price Waterhouse and Peat Marwick Main & Co. He was self employed for most of his career and retired in Overland Park, Kansas.

 Joe married Patricia (Patty) Hill on January 3, 1976 in Kansas City, MO. The couple had a daughter, Jami Weichert (Bryan), and 2 grandchildren.

Joe and Patty fufilled their dream of living in Colorado when they moved to Colorado Springs in 2005 and later to Denver. They returned to the Kansas City area in 2019 to be closer to their family. Joe was best known for his love of rescuing cats and interest in history and fitness.

Joe is survived by his wife Patty Herlihy, daughter Jami Weichert, son-in-law Bryan Weichert, granddaughter Cadence Weichert, grandson Sylas Weichert, brother James Herlihy, sister Maura Herlihy, sister Elaine Herlihy, brother Michael Herlihy, and sister Barbara Herlihy. Joe is preceded in death by his father Joseph Herlihy, Sr. and mother Margaret Herlihy.
