In Loving Memory of Carol Harper
Carol Harper, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on October 20, 2026, sharing her final day with a date that held special meaning for her family -the 16th birthday of her treasured granddaughter Abigail.
Carol was a proud graduate of Westport High School, where she was a cheerleader and a devoted Westport Tiger. She spent much of her working life at Hallmark Cards, working in "double D", production planning then transferring to engraving. Through her years of dedication, she built a life filled with memories, relationships, and experiences that reflected the woman she was.
Carol had a passion for decorating, art, music, dancing, collecting antiques, Elvis, and animals. She appreciated beauty, enjoyed life's simple pleasures, and had a personality that was impossible to overlook. She never met a stranger, and she had a special way of making people feel welcome. When Carol walked into a room, she could light it up with her presence.
She was a woman of strength, determination, and a fiercely independent spirit. She was lighthearted in nature but also tough in many ways, but beneath that toughness was a heart that cared deeply for the people she loved. Carol was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back if she believed you needed it. Her generosity, unmistakable personality, and love for those closest to her made her a cherished part of many lives.
Carol was also a follower of Jesus Christ, and her faith was an important part of her life. She held strong to her beliefs, and her faith was a source of strength throughout her journey. Her relationship with Christ remains an important part of the legacy she leaves behind.
Above all, Carol loved her grandchildren dearly. They were her joy, her heart, and a tremendous source of strength as well as purpose in her life.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lonnie Harper; her mother, Evelyn Dittemore (Clay Dittemore); her brother, Jerry Dittemore; and her sister, Billie Jean Dittemore.
She leaves behind her loving children, Heather Harper, Andrew Harper, and Alison Harper; and her beloved grandchildren, Noah Baker, Abigail Harper, Violet Harper, and Elias Harper, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Carol's life was one of strength, individuality, generosity, faith, and love. She lived with her own unmistakable spirit, loved fiercely, and left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know her. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the stories, laughter, lessons, and love she leaves behind will continue to live on through her family.
She was one of a kind, she was deeply loved, and she will never be forgotten.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview New Hope Cemetery at the farthest east intersection of Rebecca and Solomon.
